November 4th is an important date. Mary Todd married future president Abraham Lincoln on November 4th. Howard Carter discovered the tomb of Tutankhamen on November 4th. The first of several films was adapted from the book series Harry Potter on November 4th. At Taylor University, we will remember November the 4th as a date that we saw our community do life on life together as we celebrated the life and memory of our alumnus, Samuel Morris. On November 4, 2022, we completed repairs and restoration of the Samuel Morris Fountain on campus. Students, faculty, staff, alumni, and guests from around the world gathered for this occasion. The Celebration included lively worship, poetry, speeches, prayers, and blessings. And after the formal event was completed, we continued to do what we love to do at Taylor; we gathered in small and big groups and continued to live! Spending time together is not something to take lightly. We came together from across the world and from across the courtyard. Some took planes to be there, others a longboard. Some in the colors of their homeland, others in Taylor purple. We did not have a requirement that drew us together but rather a belief that we could and should love one another. This compels us to do life together. Life on life.
